Equality & Diversity Week

7 – 10 November 2017

Equality and diversity, or multiculturalism, is the idea of promoting and accepting the differences between people. More specifically, equality is about ensuring individuals are treated fairly and equally, no matter their race, gender, age, disability, or religion. Diversity is about recognising and respecting these differences to create an all-inclusive atmosphere. The aim of this week is to create a classroom environment where all students can thrive together and understand that individual characteristics make people unique and not ‘different’ in a negative way.

The children will be having the opportunity to explore how diverse Blackpool is through meeting members of the community from different faiths and exploring culture through dress, dance, celebration and food. We are looking for parents and volunteers who can speak with the children about their own culture and experiences, show photographs and special objects or perhaps share an experience such as cooking or art.

If you would like to help we would love to hear from you; please contact Miss Ramsden via the school office.
