Schools United is a ground breaking joint School Council initiative which combines the work of four Blackpool Primary Schools and one Blackpool High School and covers some 2,500 children and young people from the South Shore area of the town. This is a powerful pupil voice.
The schools involved are St Nicholas C of E Primary School, Hawes Side Primary School, Marton Primary School, Roseacre Primary School and Highfield Humanities College.
The Council meets every half term at each of the schools, and is led by the school hosting. Details of the meetings are below:
March 2010 Venue: St Nicholas Topic: Sustainability
St Nicholas children presented on sustainable issues and we had input from one of our children who is also a member of the national Generation Green team which lobbies politicians for a greener, more sustainable future. We also had a presentation from Mr Andy Duckett who showed us how we could reduce our carbon footprint. We all committed to improving our energy consumption and Andy promised to supply us with energy readings so that we could measure this.
